"We worked with Bill for a full year as the listing agent for our house -- in 2017 we became aware that prior owners of our home had rebuilt the house without acquiring permits and had violated a wide range of building codes in addition to violating a number of environmental codes. We spent several years working with King County and dozens of experts to untangle the full scope and scale of the violations and were told by at least a dozen consultants that our situation was one of the most complicated they'd seen.
We realized we wouldn't be able to afford the cost of repairs needed to bring the house to code and Bill agreed to represent us as a listing agent to search for buyers willing to take on the work. Bill's job was made even more challenging because we continued to discover new violations for several months after the listing went live; each new revelation made Bill's work more challenging as he was constantly in the position of sharing newly discovered expenses with prospective buyers.
Adding to the complexity, we'd moved out of state in 2019 and Bill stepped-in to help us coordinate maintenance on the house while it was on the market, doing everything from finding a yard care service to personally checking on the house to make sure there wasn't any damage after storms. Bill's dedication to helping us both sell the house and ensure that we remained fully transparent with prospective buyers was deeply impressive -- his ethics and dedication helped us stay focused on a positive outcome in the face of what otherwise was a fairly bleak several years.
After a year of intense effort Bill found the right buyer and negotiated what I'm confident was a fair deal for both sides.
